The weekend everyone has been waiting for is finally upon us. That’s right, it’s EMERALD CUP WEEKEND in Santa Rosa!
If you’re heading to the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds, you might be feeling a little overwhelmed looking at all the vendors, speakers, and artists performing this weekend. But have no fear, we have your FOMO covered with all the can’t miss things to do at the 15th Annual Emerald Cup.
First of all, if you’re coming from out of town, skip the event parking and use one of the free shuttles running all day Saturday and Sunday from Downtown Santa Rosa. This is an awesome option since even driving around the fairgrounds can be a nightmare.
There will be adult-sales AND on-site consumption so make sure you swing by the CannaCraft booth in the Fieldz+Cookies Village in the Marketplace to get some sweet deals, smoke your new goodies, and get your chill on in our lounge area. We’re also serving up unmedicated samples of Hi-Fi Hops to quench your cotton mouth, giving out tons of swag (since it might be raining make sure you ask for one of our umbrellas!), and our sister-brand Satori Chocolates has unmedicated Satori Bites for you to munch on.
The line-up at this year’s cup is awesome, we’re starting the weekend off strong with CannaCraft’s very own Bud Master, Patrick Anderson moderating the panel for “Hops & Cannabis - A Family Reunion” with Jeremy Marshall (see more of Patrick and Jeremy here), Ciaron McCarthy, and Hardy Nieto at noon. Take a quick break and catch Martin Lee of Project CBD speaking on “Beyond CBD: Cannabis Therapeutics & Holistic Healing” at 1 pm. Grab lunch and a smoke break and then get ready to laugh with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes who will be recording their podcast “Jay and Silent Bob Get Old” live at 2:45 pm. We’re also excited to catch the always hilarious Doug Benson at 8 pm for “Three Dudes Talk Prohibition & The Good Ole Days” with Tom Alexandar and Jeff Lowenfels.
Sunday won’t disappoint either with “Hemp Business in California, Nationally and Globally” (especially now with industrial hemp being legalized!!) with David Bronner (from Dr. Bronner’s), Hana Gabrielová, Patrick Goggin, and Eric Steenstra at noon. And we’re also looking forward to hearing “One Year Down & Into Permanent Regulations: What’s Next?” at 2 pm with Lori Ajax (Chief of the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation in California), Richard Parrot (the Director of the CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division), Christina Dempsey (who leads education, training and outreach efforts for the California Department of Public Health’s Manufactured Cannabis Safety Branch), and Amy Jenkins (who launched Precision Advocacy Group).
Lace up your shoes (or buckle your birks) for a weekend of dancing. There are amazing bands and performers all weekend, but we’re digging the reggae vibes on Saturday and can’t wait to see Nattali Rize on Saturday at 5:45 pm, Protoje at 9:15 pm, and if you can keep your eyes open, don’t miss what can best be described as “gypsy punk rock band” Gogol Bordello at 11:15 pm.
On Sunday at 3, don’t miss the Awards Ceremony with Doug Benson and Willie Nelson (who will be awarded the Willie Nelson Award at his first appearance at a large-scale Cannabis Cup), and then enjoy an electronic evening with Santa Cruz’s own STS9 at 7 pm and Big Gigantic at 8:45 pm.
The weather isn’t looking great, so bring layers and rain gear so you can stay dry and comfortable all day. And listen, we’re not trying to be your mom, but remember to pace yourself. Those dabs aren’t going anywhere, and don’t forget that edibles can take a couple of hours to kick in (and sure can sneak up on you). If you find yourself feeling uncomfortable, don’t panic (you might even want to give this a read before).
